NY FF Stricken While Operating at Fire, Dies

Fairville Firefighter Daniel DeWolf went into cardiac arrest Sunday while assisting at a building fire.

A Fairville firefighter suffered a cardiac arrest at a building fire Sunday night in Arcadia.

Firefighter Daniel DeWolf was a former chief of the department where he was a member for 32 years. 

Fellow personnel as well as crews from Newark-Arcadia Emergency Medical Services provided immediate care including CPR to the down firefighter, according to WHEC. 

He was taken to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital where he died.

"It is with deepest sadness, the Fairville Volunteer Fire department announces a sudden loss of a member. This incident occurred during a structure fire.
With respect to the family, no further information will be released at this time. Please keep the family and members of our department in your thoughts and prayers, " Fairville officials wrote on the department's Facebook page early Monday.
